Back to the original idea. Why I love Macon, GA. A city that's grown out of LOVE.

The original idea was to write a book about all the reasons I absolutely love Macon Georgia.

And that is what Boldly Authentic Arts is. It is my creation out of love for myself and my community.

See, after 3 years of ‘this will never happen to me’ moments worthy of their own HBO documentary; Shout out West Memphis 3 and the celebrities that believed them. What a real testimony to what it means to be a humanitarian.

Anyways, that’s a story for another day.

Back to my story.

Macon GA is my home. My homebase. My heart and soul live here.

More specifically, my soul lives in a 2 bed 1 bath bungalow off of Vineville Ave. My heart though, my heart lives with a retired Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy….  Sr. Lieutenant to be exact.

And he does not live in that amazing 1927 bungalow. And he does not want to live in that little 1927 bungalow. All his stuff simply will not fit. We’ll call this roadblock #1

I say that because I’m unwilling to not own the house I’ve called home for almost a decade. This is simply a non-negotiable in my life. My love for that house goes as deep as my roots. That house chose me long before I ever knew I was going to choose it. ~ That too is a story for another day.

Roadblock #2 - After pouring so much heart into a role for a company I genuinely believed in; I found myself terminated because I couldn’t send emails fast enough. I mean it was more than that but at the end of the day that’s their excuse. Apparently, I had put entirely too much value into something that didn’t value me.

And to tell you that hurt something so deep inside of me that I feel like I broke. Oof.

Truth be told, it probably impacted me a lot deeper than it should have. And I allowed it. It’s been a process of grieving. There’s still no sense of closure…yet. It’s coming though.

And here we are. Why I love Macon. The original idea. The Plan, if you will.

I think my issue has been that I felt like I needed to connect all the dots…. Like all of them.
