Y’all, Love Is the Move
Listen. I am always to the party. No matter how hard I try, it just is what it is. Always has been. Always will be. Not all the time and definitely not on purpose, but it’s a 100% guarantee that at more often than not, I’m rolling in late. Don't believe me, simply ask any one of my many bosses or one of my few life mentors. No matter who you ask, they'll all say the same thing.
And right now, I’m just sitting here, vibing to some tunes, soaking up this cold and beautiful Friday—February 21, 2025—feeling so at peace. Like, this might be the most content I’ve ever been in my life.
Here’s why.
I got family who loves me. I got friends who love me. I got people in my community who see me, hear me, and love me. And because of that, I know my voice matters.
If you think there’s anything stronger than love, let me stop you right there—nah. You’re wrong, my friend.
Love is kind.Love is patient.Love is understanding.Love is never quitting, no matter how messy life gets.
The second we stop loving people through the mess, we’re done for.
Now, tell me this—y’all don’t find it even a little interesting to connect the dots between the world today and the world’s oldest piece of classic literature?!
Two chapters.
Two world wars.
Facts.
And even if you don’t agree, just pretend for five seconds that I might be onto something. If that’s the case, why aren’t we, as a nation, loving every single life that's SURVIVING on OUR land?
Here’s the deal.
I can’t save the world. I know that. But what I do know? In Macon+Bibb County, we love different. And respectfully? We don’t actually care what anybody thinks about how we do it.
Why do y’all think we’re called the Heart of Georgia?
Come on now. Don’t be slow. There’s a major difference between ignorance and stupidity. And if you don’t know what that difference is, let me school you real quick:
Stupid = Can’t understand, no matter how hard they try. (Think: Not Forrest Gump.)
Ignorant = Just doesn’t know better yet.
Once you’re no longer ignorant, you’ve got one thing left to do—choose.
We choose how we move through this world.
So yeah, that was a whole long-winded pro-love rant just to say this: Because Macon knows how to love its people differently, my voice will be heard. And through this wild, deep, crazy network of love? I know it’s gonna make a difference.
Not just for me.Not just for my family. But for my whole damn community.
And that’s the realest thing I’ve got for y’all today.
